Our Valentine's Day boxes were filled to the brim with lots of cards & treats from all of our friends. The children excitedly distributed their own Valentine's into the treat boxes of their classmates. Thank you to all of our families for sending in Valentines & all of the special treats for our celebration.
During small group with our pre-k kids, we identified who has the letter Kk in their name, stamped & wrote Kk in our journals, outlined the letter K with gem stones & came up with a list of words that begin with the letter K for our word wall. Ask your child what other letter has the same sound as the letter K.
We have some very exciting news to share with our Creative Kids families! We will be moving into a larger space on April 1st. It's only a stone's throw away from our present location. Our new address is 991 Main Street, Suite 103. While I realize moving in the middle of the school year might be confusing for some of the children, I didn't want to miss out on this exciting opportunity. I will begin explaining the move to the children toward the end of March. I ask that you please wait to do the same as children have no concept of time. You might notice that they say “at my birthday yesterday” when in fact their birthday was last summer. Time is an abstract concept for them & since the move is still over 1 month away, I would like to wait until closer to the end of March to begin discussing it. Thank you for your cooperation.
February 20-24 – Winter Break – No school
February 27 – Return to School!
Caiden: “Ms. Sheri, you're school is cooler than my house.”
Meeting a child's aggression with equal grown-up aggression only adds fuel to the fire.
To extinguish aggressive behavior, meet it with calmness & compassion.
Being calm isn't passive – it's mature. Be it to teach it!

Kindergarten & UPK registration paperwork can now be accessed on the Sachem Schools website. Please keep in mind that if your child is not chosen for the UPK lottery, we will match the SCOPE paid UPK program tuition rate if it is less than our 5-day tuition rate. Scope UPK rates have increased over the past few years & I'm not yet sure of the 2017-2018 school year rate.
Just an FYI, your Creative Kids tuition rates remain the same for your registered child from year to year even if we increase our tuition. In other words, if your child registers during the 2016-2017 school year, the rates in effect for that school year will remain in place even if we raise tuition during the 2017-2018 school year.
Registration for Creative Kids 2017-2018 school year will begin when we return from vacation on 2/27/17. The $50 registration fee will be waived if you register by May 1st. To hold your child's spot, you will need to include a completed enrollment packet & tuition in the form of check or cash for June 2018. Registrations received after May 1st will also need to include the $50 tuition fee along with the June 2018 tuition. Without payment, a spot cannot be held. June 2018 payment MUST be included with your registration or I cannot guarantee a spot for your child. If your child receives a spot in the Sachem UPK lottery, your money will be refunded. However, if you choose to pull your child out mid year, the June 2018 tuition is forfeited. September tuition will be due on the 1st day of school.
Summer camp will run from July 10-August 18. Hours are 9:00-12:00. Daily rate is $25/day, weekly rate is $100/week & 6 week rate is $500. Register & pay in full by May 1st & pay $475 for all 6 weeks.
We hope that everyone has a fabulous mid-winter break & we will see you all when we return on 2/27.
