Our superhero unit was put on hold as we prepared for our Mother’s Day Tea by making cards and gifts for the special women in our lives. We practiced our songs to sing during the celebration and completed a language experience chart (“My Mommy is a Superhero Because...”). The children sure came up with some very interesting, fun, and sweet responses.
Our Mother’s Day Tea was a big success. We were thrilled to have all of our special ladies join us. We sang songs, ate delicious snacks and of course, drank tea and lemonade. We hope everyone had a wonderful time.
We welcomed two new friends, Makayla and Mason. We’re very excited to have them join us. We continued with our superhero unit by completing drawings of ourselves as superheroes and making up our own superhero names. We read Superhero ABC (Bob McLeod) and began a language experience chart to create our own Superhero ABC names. We made some fabulous play dough creations, worked with gem stones to outline letters and make silly faces, and created “musical chairs paintings.” Everyone’s paintings were super colorful.
Ms. Sheri will be absent from Tuesday, May 19 through Friday, May 22 as she will be having gall bladder surgery. The children will be in good hands with Ms. Tabitha and Ms. Kerry who will be our substitutes. They are both NYS certified teachers and have worked with the preschool population in the past. Miss Miranda will join them as an extra hand in addition to our fabulous teacher assistants. Ms. Sheri will return on Tuesday, May 26. Remember that there is no school on Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day. (We are making up our snow days by having school on Fri., 5/22 and Tues., 5/26.)
Hope everyone had a marvelous Mother’s Day and a fabulous weekend!
