We ate sand for snack (ask us about the ingredients), created beautiful beach scenes with shells & sea creatures, used magnifying glasses to explore sea shells & sand, manipulated sand play dough & played at the water & sand tables. We even practiced some beach yoga along with surfing moves & danced to the music of The Beach Boys. The older children practiced writing beach words from one of the books we read, There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Shell.
Books We Read: Shells! Shells! Shells! (Nancy Elizabeth Wallace), There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Shell (Lucille Colandro) & Commotion in the Ocean (Giles Andreae)
Obviously, beach week was a huge success & tons of fun! Now we're looking forward to some real beach weather!
