Can you believe this is our last week of camp? Summer has been just beachy here at Creative Kids Center. Our days began with strengthening our fine motor skills with white play dough using beach-themed cookie cutters, rolling pins, scissors & beach shells. Children made beach scenes, cakes, pies, cookies & many other interesting creations. Some children chose to build with our various blocks making tall towers, skyscrapers, roads, buildings & more. Once everyone arrived & settled we transitioned to circle, singing & dancing to a variety of songs before sitting down & chatting, reading stories & answering questions. After circle, everyone was hungry so we washed hands & gobbled up our snacks. Then we moved on to open-ended play in our various centers. The water table enabled the kids to scoop, pour, play with pretend fish & stay cool! Our sand table contained magnetic fish & fishing poles, shells, pails & shovels. Our Beach Hut was open for business serving up a variety of foods during pretend play. The children also explored a variety of shells at the light table, created beach scenes in our small world center, copied the summer word list from our pocket chart &/or scribbled/drew pictures in the writing center. And of course, our library was chock full of picture books for sharing stories & learning games to play. Our Friday Dance Parties were a huge hit, as we danced & popped bubbles to our favorite dance music.

We also had some guest readers. What a treat! Rosalie read us a search & find troll book, complete with class participation. Allison practiced her reading skills by reading us a few Biscuit books.
We have some very Creative Kids who love to paint pictures! We also enjoyed making sand crabs & rainbow fish as well as a variety of drawings. We never force children to create art; however, those who show interest are always welcome to do so.
Thank you to all of our families for sharing your Creative Kids with us this summer. We had a blast! Congratulations to all of our new kindergarteners, 1st graders & 2nd graders. We wish everyone a successful school year.
We still have a few openings for both half & full day sessions during the 2017-2018 school year for anyone who might be interested.
Hope to see you again next summer!
