Last week we got a head start on decorating our Valentine's “mailboxes” & we continued working on them this week as well. We will have a Valentine exchange in February. Information will be coming home soon.
Our letter of the week was Ll. We outlined the letter L on the floor with pretty gemstones & identified whether or not we have the letter Ll in our names.
We also made icicles by stringing frosty colored beads on white pipe cleaners. This activity helps support our fine motor skills to get us ready for writing activities.
We acted out our January finger plays, danced with scarves during movement & played a bubble game. The bubble game is designed to support children with listening & self-regulation skills. Children are called by name to pop the bubbles while peers sit calmly and watch. We all know this is not so easy to do when popping bubbles is so much fun. I'm proud to say all of the children followed the rules! Self-regulation & listening skills will be very important when our children begin kindergarten. Playing fun games like this helps acquire these important skills in a developmentally appropriate manner for our age group.
Reminder: School is closed on Monday, January 18th in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King.
January book orders were placed this week & should arrive shortly.
Next week, we’re looking forward to celebrating Candice’s 5th birthday & Kellen's 3rd birthday!
Note: Watch out for news regarding a special upcoming event.
Hint: You won’t have to dress us when we get up in the morning!
Enjoy the three-day weekend!
