Valentine's Day is just around the corner. We began decorating our own goody boxes by painting tissue boxes red & pink & decorating them with hearts. However, we are short some tissue boxes. If you have any any upright (cube-like) empty tissue boxes, please send them in as soon as possible. Thank you!
On Monday, we celebrated Gianni's 5th birthday with delicious donuts! Thank you to his family for providing the goodies for us to enjoy! Happy 5th Birthday, Gianni!
During our school day, we participate in many dancing & movement activities to combat restlessness, especially during the cold winter months. The children love the dancing, jumping, running & balancing activities, all of which incorporate gross motor coordination, following directions & exercise. We use various equipment such as a small balance beam, hula hoops, parachute & bean bags for additional enjoyment during these activities. Physical activity is a must for youngsters & very important for their growth & development. This week we introduced mindfulness where we practiced being in the present moment. Yoga was also introduced & we will continue practicing.
Please note, that if Sachem School District closes due to inclement weather, we will also be closed. If Sachem has a delayed opening, we will make every effort to open at our usual time. However, extenuating circumstances might require us to be closed for the morning session. Please tune in to WALK radio (FM 97.5) or check our FB page, the Remind App &/or Brightwheel App for closing & delay information.

If my calculations are correct (& if we don’t have any snow days), our 100th day of school will fall on Valentine’s Day so we will have a combined Valentine’s Day/100 Days of School celebration during snack time. If you would like to send in Valentine’s cards/treats, we would very much appreciate it. It will also be red day so be sure to dress the children in red for school! We have 16 children in our morning classes & 11 children in our afternoon classes.
For all of our soon to be Kindergarteners (sniffle, sniffle), registration has begun. Sachem Central registration office is located at Samoset Middle School, Administrative Annex, 51 School Street, Lake Ronkonkoma, Hours are 8 am til 2 pm. The K registration letter & paperwork can be accessed on the Sachem website. I believe UPK lottery registration has begun as well & forms can also be found on the Sachem website.
Registration for CKC Summer Camp 2018 & the 2018-2019 school year is underway. Paperwork can be found on our website under the “Forms” tab located under “More.” Paperwork will be sent home upon request. We have a new payment policy for both camp & the 2018-2019 school year, which we will strictly adhere to. Class size will be limited to 12 per session for both camp & the school year so be sure to send in your paperwork as early as possible. We already have 1 new registrant for the school year morning session. Once we reach 12 students in a class, a wait list will be provided. Your spot will be held with the nonrefundable $50 deposit. (A refund will be granted if your child wins a non-paid UPK lottery spot.)

“Do not ask your children to strive for extraordinary lives.
Such striving may seem admirable, but it is a way of foolishness.
Help them instead to find the wonder & the marvel of an ordinary life.
Show them the joy of tasting tomatoes, apples & pears.
Show them how to cry when pets & people die.
Show them the infinite pleasure in the touch of a hand.
And make the ordinary come alive for them.
The extraordinary will take care of itself.”
Ms. Joyce: “You know what I get when I go to McDonald’s? I like Big Macs.”
Tyler: “I like tiny macs.”
Have a great weekend! Keep warm!
