This week we welcomed our new friend, James. He is almost 3 years old & we are very happy to have him join us!
During small group with our pre-k kids, we identified who has the letter Ii in their name, stamped & wrote Ii in our journals, circled the letter Ii if we have it in our name, rainbow traced I, walked I & outlined the letter I with gemstones. We also came up with a list of words that begin with the letter I for our word wall. Ask your child about the different Ii sounds.
Valentine's Day is just around the corner. We began decorating our own goody boxes by painting tissue boxes red & pink. Next week we will decorate them with hearts.
On Monday, we celebrated Gianni's 4th birthday with pizza & cupcakes! Thank you to his mom & dad for providing the goodies for us to enjoy! If you're ever in the Lindenhurst area & in the mood for pizza/Italian food, visit Nonna's Cucina Pizzeria & Catering, owned by Gianni's dad! Delicious! Happy 4th Birthday, Gianni!
During our school day, we participate in many dancing & movement activities to combat restlessness, especially during the cold winter months. The children love the dancing, jumping, running & balancing activities, all of which incorporate gross motor coordination, following directions & exercise. We use various equipment such as a small balance beam, parachute & bean bags for additional enjoyment during these activities. Physical activity is a must for youngsters & very important for their growth & development.

“Do not ask your children to strive for extraordinary lives. Such striving may seem admirable, but it is a way of foolishness. Help them instead to find the wonder & the marvel of an ordinary life. Show them the joy of tasting tomatoes, apples & pears. Show them how to cry when pets & people die. Show them the infinite pleasure in the touch of a hand. And make the ordinary come alive for them. The extraordinary will take care of itself.”
Have a fabulous weekend!
