Our beach theme continued throughout the week with plenty of action at the sand & water tables. We practiced scooping & pouring as we explored various shells & fish in both sensory tables.
We are learning to play cooperatively & use our words when a conflict arises. This is hard for us to learn & we use our hands to hit & push because we can’t fully express our emotions yet. Some of us use our mouths to bite sometimes too. It is helpful when our grown-ups label our emotions for us, such as, “I can see that you are mad, angry, sad, hurt.” This helps us identify how we are feeling. We are also learning to not take toys from our friends. We are practicing using our words by telling our friends, “My turn next.” It also helps when our grown-ups catch us being kind & praise us for doing the right thing. (“Trenton, you shared your toy with Katie. That was very kind. You are a good friend.”)

We painted with ocean colors at the easel then decorated our paintings by gluing tissue paper on our pictures. When dry, we added fish stickers to create “Commotion in the Ocean” art! We will continue working on our projects next week.
