Welcome to CKC Summer Camp! Our 1st week of camp was a huge success! Campers discovered that our dramatic play center is now a BEACH! We have been building math, literacy, science and social skills during our pretend play! Play is powerful! Learning through play creates meaningful opportunities. We are designing & building sandcastles, fishing & sorting fish by color & size, practicing healthy habits, taking care of nature, counting & identifying numbers as we order & pay for items in our Beach Hut as well as developing our vocabulary. We are constantly building social skills during pretend play too! We are learning to take turns, share, wait, control our impulses & express our feelings through appropriate gestures, actions & words. We also discussed our favorite summer activities.
Clifford Makes a Splash – Quinlan B. Lee
Summer Wonders – Bob Raczka
And Then Comes Summer – Tom Brenner
Adventures Through The North Fork: Summer – Danielle Malmet Rodger
This week we made “Footprints in the Sand.” We traced our feet on yellow paper, added glue, then dipped in sand. We also glued blue tissue paper to the bottom of our paper to make the ocean. We never force children to create art; however, those who show interest are always welcome to do so.
