Activities: The children began “signing in” this week upon arrival. We have been focusing on name recognition since the first day of school by having children move their attendance cards from the “home” side of the attendance chart to the “school” side as well as locating their cubbies labeled with their name. While we will continue this throughout the school year, we have now introduced them to “signing in.” Whether they scribble, trace or write their 1st name, they are exercising their fine motor skills while holding a thick pencil as they practice “signing in.”
We all enjoyed orange play dough with orange craft sticks & orange flowers; sponge painting tissue boxes orange to be used as our Halloween treat boxes; and using a technique called crayon resist by coloring then using watercolors to make our own birthday crowns. We also discussed our favorite fall activities & learned that “autumn” is another word for “fall.”
Speaking of birthday crowns, we also celebrated Myles’ 3rd birthday on Wednesday with Munchkins. Thank you to his parents for sending in this delicious treat. Happy 3rd Birthday, Myles!
- Our Fall/Halloween party will be held on October 31. The sign up sheet will be posted outside our classroom door beginning on Monday.
- Please join us in giving back to the community this Thanksgiving! Let’s see how many families we can feed together! Creative Kids Center has teamed up with Our Place Newspapers to sponsor a food drive. Food pantries are at a low right now & really need our help. In 2015-2016, Our Place donated over three pallets of food. We would like to increase the amount this year. The food drive will run from October 6-November 17. Food donations will be delivered to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Holbrook, St. Joseph’s Church in Ronkonkoma & Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in Centereach. Thank you for your support in making a difference in the lives of our neighbors.
- Families have been asking about make-up days when a child is absent due to illness. Please note that on page 6 of our Family Handbook, “there are no refunds or make-up days for absences due to illness, vacations, etc.” The tuition is a yearly fee. We offer a payment plan to divide tuition into 10 monthly payments. While we try our best to accommodate families when possible, please note that we are staffed according to how many children attend each day. Having an extra child on a day when we are already at capacity puts us over our child/staff ratio. Thank you for your understanding.
- Tuition is due on the 1st day of the month that your child attends school. Late fees will be charged according to our handbook policy (page 7) for tuition not received by the 10th of the month. Please pay your tuition in a timely manner. Thank you for your understanding.
