Speaking of groundhogs, we learned that a groundhog lives in a hole in the ground called a burrow. We looked at a picture of a burrow & discovered that groundhogs actually have separate rooms for a bedroom & a bathroom just like we do. We talked about shadows & Ms. Sarah used the flashlight on her phone to let us see our hand shadows.
We watched a short Scholastic video about love & participated in lots of fun Valentine's themed activities. We put together heart puzzles with our names on them, matched hearts by color & made Happy Hearts pictures after painting with red & white at the easel. Ask me what color we made when we mixed together the red & white paint.
Books We Read: My “n” Book (Jane Belk Moncure), The Snowman Storybook (Raymond Briggs), Love Monster & the Perfect Present (Rachel Bright), If You'll be My Valentine (Cynthia Rylant) & The Night Before Valentine's Day (Natasha Wing).
The children distributed Valentine’s to their friends. They took such pride when giving out the special cards & treats. This activity encouraged socialization, eye contact, using manners (saying “thank you”) & learning to wait their turn. So many important skills were learned while enjoying a simple activity.
We spoke about how we show love.

Reminder: We are closed for February break from 2/15/16-2/19/16. School will reopen on Monday, 2/22/16. We hope you all have an enjoyable week with your children. They grow up much too fast.
February is dental health month so we will focus on how to take care of our teeth when we return from vacation.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
